Maria Tracy— Interior Designer

“I created a “glam meets funk” living room ambiance for a family looking for a casual, comfortable space that would both engage with the outdoor Loggia and be able to easily host large gatherings. I chose soft blue velvet and mohair fabrics for their inherent luxury, while the strong black and white contemporary patterns of the side chair and pillows add to the “funkiness” feel. The fur ottoman and the acrylic side tables perfectly round out the entire vibe.”

Maria Tracy, interior designer

Maria Tracy began her professional career with a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University Of Houston College Of Architecture. She was privileged to teach architectural history and design courses with the University of Florence and University of Rome. It was through those experiences that she developed a wealth of knowledge and impassioned desire for the enhancement of architecture through interior design.

One can’t quite put a label on Maria Tracy’s design style, because it is always evolving. But there are certain things she incorporates, mainly on the construction side; she likes to bring a sense of the past to the spaces she designs, through the use of antique doors and antique windows that are built into cabinets. The juxtaposition of the contemporary and the historic tells a “story” of the homes.

Maria views the design process as embarking on a journey together, and at the beginning of this journey she hopes her clients trust that the destination will be even better than was expected. It’s a high bar, but a challenge she always feels fortunate to have been given. And in kind, Maria works to deliver what clients expect and more: clients become friends, “so you do whatever it takes to let them know you are there for them.”
